The two greats of their respective countries recently met each other in Kyiv. On Friday, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy acknowledged the significance of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kyiv as he listed the agreements reached by the two countries to deepen bilateral cooperation across fields.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to X and wrote, “Today, history was made. The Prime Minister of India @narendramodi made his first visit to Ukraine since our country’s independence on the eve of our Independence Day.” He also highlighted the signing of four bilateral agreements covering fields such as culture, agriculture, humanitarian relations, and medicine, signalling a new chapter in the relations between India and Ukraine.
A strategic partnership.
The two leaders’ meeting also led to an agreement on a joint statement emphasizing the development of a strategic partnership, bilateral trade, and continued military-technical cooperation. Zelenskyy added, “India supports Ukraine’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity. And this is critical because everyone in the world must equally respect the UN Charter.”

The Ukrainian President also posted pictures of his meeting with Modi on Instagram, quickly becoming his most popular post on the platform, garnering more than 1 million likes within hours. In his post, Zelenskyy said, “Our meeting is important for strengthening the dialogue and relationship between India and Ukraine.”
