Born on April 2, 1984, in Caracas, Venezuela, Mariana grew up in a politically turbulent environment, which inspired her passion for journalism and her commitment to uncovering the truth. After earning her undergraduate degree from Andrés Bello Catholic University in Venezuela, she pursued a master’s degree in journalism at Columbia University in New York, where she was awarded the prestigious Toni Stabile Investigative Reporting Fellowship.

Mariana began her career reporting for Univision, where she gained recognition for her in-depth coverage of immigration, politics, and social justice issues. She later joined NBC News and MSNBC, becoming one of the few Latina journalists on mainstream English-language television in the United States. Her groundbreaking reporting on topics ranging from natural disasters to global human rights crises has earned her several awards, including a National Emmy and a Peabody Award.

In 2019, Mariana published her memoir, Perfectly You: Embracing the Power of Being Real, which became a bestseller. The book explores her personal journey, offering readers inspiration and practical advice on embracing authenticity and overcoming challenges. She is also a sought-after motivational speaker, delivering TEDx talks and keynote speeches on topics like identity, resilience, and the immigrant experience.
