A video went viral recently, featuring Indian digital creator Piyush Monga, known for his popular Instagram page “Salary Scale,’ interviewing a young Indian professional in Canada. The professional claims that work experience from India is often overlooked by Canadian employers. The person has been working as a Process Inventory Associate in Canada for the past year.

The young professional Piyush Monga interviewed, previously worked at Google India for over three years. He expresses dissatisfaction with his current salary in Canada, where he has worked as a Process Inventory Associate for the past year. He earns $17,500 annually, he mentioned, which he says he can hardly survive on as it is such a low income.

The Indian expat in the video explains that he is downplaying his Indian work experience in Canada. He says, “Ever since I moved here, I’ve been reducing my experience on my resume because recruiters aren’t counting my work in India. It just doesn’t make any sense.”
The professional is currently on a job hunt and says that recruiters in Canada are looking for Canadian candidates and not for Indian candidates.
