The owner of the Tobacco House store at 2580 Airport Road, Mainank Patel, was shot dead recently, according to the report by the Salisbury Post. The juvenile is now in custody for the crime, as per Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. Since he is a juvenile, the deputies couldn’t release his name. A few days ago, he was arrested, but no other information that is different from this has been shared so far.

A hang-up call to 911.

Deputies responded initially to the Tobacco House convenience store in response to a 911 hang-up call, said public information officer for the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Captain Mark McDaniel. While on their way to the location, they received communications that there had been a shooting. Arriving on the same, the deputies saw Patel suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, said McDaniel.

A Security video gave out key information.

Patel was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. However, he died as a result of his injuries, added the report. The security video gave out some critical details, like a tall, slender white male running across the store parking lot away from the building, wearing black shorts, a hoodie, a ski mask, and white tennis shoes with burgundy logos. It appeared to have a black handgun in his hand.

McDaniel said that they are not certain of the shooting’s motive, but it currently appears to have been a robbery.
