An “active shooter” situation occurred at Georgia’s Apalachee High School; more details are yet to be revealed.
On Wednesday morning, an “actual shooter” situation occurred at the Apalachee High School in Georgia. The northern Georgia high school shooting reportedly left at least four dead and approximately 30 injured, as told by authorities. This fatal incident comes over a month after Barrow County students resumed classes on August 1.

Confirming to Fox News, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that it was an active shooter situation as multiple law enforcement agencies and responders were deployed to the school around 10.30 am local time. Since then, the Apalachee High School in Georgia has been on a lockdown as a “precautionary measure.” Students were released at 11.30 am, as told by a Barrow County School District spokesperson in The New York Post.

According to Athens Banner-Herald, the school sent parents a message: “Apalachee High School is currently in a hard lockdown after reports of gunfire. Law enforcement is here. Please do not attempt to come to the school at this time while officers work to secure the area.” Other schools in the country were also put on a “soft lockdown,” as reported by ABC News.
Many suffered gunshot wounds.
On Wednesday, multiple others suffered gunshot wounds. Two injured individuals were seen being loaded into an air ambulance, and casualty numbers are reportedly growing. Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said the investigation was in its early stages and said, “This is going to take multiple days for us to get answers as to what happened and why this happened.”
The school district and Georgia governor also released statements about the fatal shooting.
