Delta Airlines agents detained in Ketamine smuggling at JFK airport.

Two Delta Airlines ramp agents, namely Leandro Alleyne and Fabian Innis, were detained for smuggling Ketamine worth $3 million at John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport. This drug took the life of Friends actor Matthew Perry. A few days ago, both the agents were taken into custody after authorities saw them handling questionable luggage off a flight from Copenhagen, Denmark.

One of the accused admitted to the crime.

Upon his arrest, Innis admitted that he had taken part in the smuggling operation with Alleyne at least 5-10 times before. He admitted to knowing that the bags contained illegal substances, but he didn’t realize it was Ketamine. Innis also disclosed that his payment for each flight varied between $4,000 and $5,000. Both Delta Airline agents entered the non-guilty plea in relation to the charges of drug importation and drug smuggling. Each of them bonded out on a $50,000 amount.

Confiscation of 134 pounds of Ketamine.

As per the court documents, the two agents were seen removing backpacks and suitcases from Flight 219, loading them onto a baggage transportation vehicle, and then transporting the luggage to a secluded area on the airport tarmac, which raised red flags for authorities. The suspicion heightened when it came to light that the agent didn’t have the authorization to handle the luggage, and neither was Alleyne assigned to operate the baggage vehicle at the time. Homeland security investigators were already monitoring the two individuals and moved in after Alleyne and Innis opened the bags. Inside the bag were clear plastic bags containing a white crystallized substance, which later tested positive for Ketamine.

The agents were found with a total of 134 pounds of the drug, valued at around $3 million on the street.
