Google is now testing a new YouTube Shorts UI that hides the “Dislike” button on X and replaces it with the “Save” button.

Google is now testing a new YouTube Shorts UI that will hide the dislike option and replace it with the save option on the platform. YouTube recently announced that Shorts can now be up to 3 minutes long. As part of a new experiment, it is testing a new Shorts interface, replacing the dislike button with the save button.

Users on YouTube Shorts will no longer see the “Dislike” button.

As part of a new experiment, YouTube is testing a new Shorts interface, replacing the dislike button. According to a recent report by Android Authority, on the Google-owned video-sharing platform, users who are part of the limited test will no longer see the dislike button but will instead see the save feature.

The new update is rolled out randomly.

Unlike the experimental features of YouTube Premium, which require users to opt in, the update is rolled out randomly. For users affected by the change and who wish to dislike Shorts, the option can be accessed by tapping on the three-dot menu from the top right of the screen. To save YouTube Shorts, users can press the Save button, appearing either below the Like button or from the three-dot menu. YouTube will ask them if they want to save it to an existing playlist or make a new one.

While it is easier to save Shorts, users will most likely scroll to the next Short without disliking it. This change may be suitable for creators, but the downside is that low-quality Shorts might appear higher on their feed. However, the YouTube Shorts UI is still being tested, so it’s unclear if Google will push the change to everyone or roll it back.
