Videos on Shorts can be made up to 3 minutes long with new updates on YouTube Shorts.

YouTube recently announced that creators will soon be able to create Shorts on the platform for up to 3 minutes in length and is also adding a Trends page for short-form content. Google’s YouTube has unveiled a series of new features and changes on YouTube Shorts, which the company believes will make short-form content more engaging and useful.

YouTube Shorts will soon get longer.

In a blog post, YouTube announced that starting October 15, creators can upload Shorts that are up to 3 minutes long. However, the platform also mentioned that the change only applies to square videos with a tall aspect ratio and that any of your older videos won’t be affected. The platform also changed its Shorts player, which will help creators take center stage and allow viewers to focus on the content they love.

YouTube will introduce a new Trends page.

In the coming months, YouTube will enable creators to make the most of the vast universe of their favorite videos and music videos and even pull from multiple clips on the platform. On YouTube mobile, users will see a new Trends page for Shorts and get a preview of the Shorts’ comment section from the feed itself.

YouTube also mentioned that it is working to add a “Show fewer Shorts” button, which will help users to reduce the amount of Shorts they see on their feed. This can be enabled by clicking on the three dot menu in the upper right corner of any Shorts on the home feed of the platform.
