A 24-year-old US teacher sent 33,000 explicit texts to an 11-year-old student and kissed him; she is now charged with child sexual assault.
In a shocking incident, it was revealed that a 24-year-old US teacher sent 33,000 explicit texts over a year to her 11-year-old student and even kissed him. A school teacher in Wisconsin has been charged with sexually assaulting her 11-year-old student and sending him more than 33,000 explicit text messages and ‘making out’ with him.
Wisconsin teacher charged with child sexual assault.
Madison Bergmann, 24, who faced 10 felony charges, bowed her head in shame as the messages sent by her to her 11-year-old student were read out loud in a court. A teacher in the court testified that Bergmann admitted to physical interactions with the boy, like feeling aroused during hugs, and said that she even changed her choice of wearing certain dresses because she liked the way he touched her. Trying to emphasize that there was no talk of actual sex between the two, Defence lawyer Joseph Tamburino said, “They talk a lot about kissing, and lips, and cheeks, and touching legs. But nothing like, ‘this is what I want you to do to me,’ or ‘this is what I will do to you.’” However, the judge ruled that the evidence was enough to establish probable cause for the charges.
Handwritten notes narrating physical encounters were found in a folder.
The case came to light when the 11-year-old’s mother heard him talking to Bergmann on a phone and found the text messages she sent him. When the police searched her classroom at school, they found a folder with the victim’s name on it, and inside the folder were handwritten notes narrating physical encounters, including kissing and fondling. The court was told, “In her notes, [Bergmann] tells him that she loves him, wants to kiss him, he turns her on, and that she is obsessed with him.”
Bergmann has pleaded not guilty to all charges, but she could face a long prison sentence if convicted.
