Harris’s campaign said that it raised $540 million and saw a surge of donations during the convention.
According to reports, Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign said that it raised $540 million and saw a surge of donations during the convention for its election battle against former Republican nominee Donald Trump.
The campaign sees a surge in donations.
The campaign did not see problems getting supporters to open their wallets since President Joe Biden announced on July 21 that he was ending his campaign, quickly endorsing Kamala Harris. The campaign has now said that it has seen a surge of donations during last week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Kamala Harris and her vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, accepted their nominations.
What did the campaign chair write in a memo?
On Sunday, campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon wrote in a memo released by the campaign, “Just before Vice President Harris’ acceptance speech Thursday night, we officially crossed the $500 million mark. Immediately after her speech, we saw our best fundraising hour since launch day.” Though Trump proved a formidable fundraiser, Harris’ month-old campaign appears to have outpaced him. Trump’s campaign and its related affiliates announced earlier this month that they had raised $138.7 million in July, which is less than what Harris took in during her White House bid’s opening week. At the start of August, Trump’s campaign reported $327 million in cash.
The Kamala Harris campaign says it has seen a surge in volunteer support for the vice president. Supporters signed up for nearly 200,000 volunteer shifts during the convention to help the campaign.
