Reddit faced widespread accessibility issues, with users worldwide unable to access the platform via mobile apps or desktops.

A much-loved social media platform, Reddit, experienced a massive outage, which affected users globally who could not access the platform via mobile apps or desktops. However, Reddit services were restored after a brief outage lasting about an hour later. Though the social media platform didn’t acknowledge what caused the outage, it is now accessible on the web and mobile. This is said to be the third such outage in the last three months.

Users across the world couldn’t access Reddit on desktop or mobile.

Users from all over the world were unable to access Reddit on their desktops or mobile devices. It is unclear what caused the massive outage globally, but users were quick to report the same, seeing the “no healthy upstream” error on their desktop when they tried to access the platform. A few other users also reported seeing error messages that read, “Upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. reset reason: connection failure,” and messages like “Our CDN was unable to reach our servers.”

Reddit users complain about the outage on other social media platforms.

As per DownDetector, there were more than 200 reports of Reddit outages. Reddit users quickly went on other social media platforms to complain about the outage and post the issue they faced on the platform. However, according to redditstatus.com, “All systems are operational.”

In August and September 2024, Reddit had faced a similar outage. In both cases, the issue was resolved swiftly by the company that called the incidents “degraded performance for Reddit.”
